Hello 2019!

Hello there!

I will always remember that 2018 was the year that truly changed my business. At the end of May, business really started to pick up, and I haven't had a break since! However, what really put my little business on the map was my first Muppet Baby Party. Little did I know that a few headbands would go CRAZY in the shop, and open the doors for other party themes, new customers, and plenty of opportunities.

There were several times this year that I cried happy tears--no joke! I have been completely blown away that so many people wanted my creations, were excited to receive it, and willing to wait a month or longer for it. It still surprises me!

Felt Happens has been something I always imagined being my full time job, and 2018 was able to provide that blessing for me. I can only work harder in 2019 to make my creative little business as successful as it can be.

For 2019, I am not setting "resolutions," I am setting goals and planning on what I need to do, to achieve them.

Goal #1: Plan For The Big Picture

I like to think I'm a pretty organized person. Unfortunately, I plan, and I plan, and sometimes I forget how much time there is in a day and end up overbooking myself. Then I run out of time and my shop, website, or social media gets tossed to the backseat and neglected.

I have ideas to make Felt Happens bigger, contact other business to work with, and hire more people to help so I can enjoy a weekend off without stress. I also plan on buying a house soon, and making sure Felt Happens has all its ducks in a row and ready for that big step is a goal for this year. Putting on my big girl pants to make Felt Happens as successful as possible.

How do I make this happen?

I plan on making this my career. It is my passion and I want others to be passionate about it as well. I'm becoming an entrepreneur, and this year I plan on wearing that title proudly! In order to achieve that, I need to make time to work on my business from behind the scenes a priority.

It's not just about needle and thread all day long. This includes keeping up with this blog, sending out emails, posting on social media, networking with other businesses, constantly updating my online shop, and working on new projects.

I am holding myself accountable for making my business as successful as possible. It's my fault if I don't try and expect to move forward. Good work requires hard work, and making the time for this will be a priority in 2019.

Goal #2: New Projects

I have so many ideas for Felt Happens and things planned for Happens With Love! Ideas that have been sitting in my brain for months, even years. Felt Happens can be so much more than just felt, t-shirts, and home decor. It has the potential to represent a lifestyle, a passion, positivity, and a whole lotta heart!

How do I make this happen?

A lot of Goal #1 takes place for Goal #2, but I need to make myself accountable on these plans. I am going to write every idea I have on a sticky note (with a due date for each!), and designate a wall in my workroom to put all of my ideas. Once I have achieved a new project, I will remove the sticky note, and possibly celebrate with a glass of wine! This way I see what needs to be done every day, and it will be a reminder that's literally in my face.

Goal #3: Make Felt Happens More Personal

Felt Happens represents more than just felt. There is a story behind my business, how I got here, even how I came up with the name. Everything I do, has so much heart and passion in it. Supporting any small business, is supporting someone's creativity and his/her dream.

I know how strongly I feel about this, and I would love to make other people feel as passionate and proud to own a Felt Happens or Happens with Love item, knowing what it represents.

How do I make this happen?

I don't want to give away too much about what this means in this post, but I do plan on sharing these stories with you as the year goes by. For this to happen I need to remind myself that a little felt doll can't tell the whole story. I need to put on my big girl pants, come out of my shy bubble, and tell my story. Sharing my thoughts, my experiences, and more behind the scenes videos, will help make Felt Happens more relatable and inspirational, and about a woman with a dream, working her butt off to make her passion a reality.

I am ready for what 2019 can provide for me. It all starts with me and how I prioritize. I plan to be a major goal crusher this year!

What are some of your goals for 2019 and how do you plan to achieve them? Let's all be goal crushers and support each other this year!

Always written with love,

Augusta
